Prof. V.K. Unni is a Professor in the Public Policy and Management Group at IIM Calcutta, teaching Intellectual Property Rights, Competition Law, and Corporate Transactions. He held the Max Planck India Fellowship (2008-12) as the sole non-natural sciences awardee and became the first Asian recipient of the Thomas Edison Innovation Fellowship (2016) from George Mason University’s CPIP. A member of Columbia University’s TRIPS compliance research group on pharmaceuticals—published as a 2014 book by Edward Elgar—he served as Scholar in Residence at UC-Davis School of Law (2011). His publications appear in leading journals like IIC, WIPO Journal, EIPR, and IPQ, with citations in ITU, European Commission reports, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He collaborates with National Law Universities across India and advises bodies like ICAR, CCI, and CGPDTM on IPR and competition matters.
